How it works
Matching is on the stops themselves. Any ride that passes where you get on and where you get off, in that order, is a match — whatever route it is listed under.
Pick your two stops
Where you get on, and where you get off. Narrow by route if it helps.
Ask for a seat
You see the price for your stretch before you ask. The commuter accepts or declines.
Travel, and settle up
A 4-digit PIN starts the trip. You pay each other directly — we never touch it.
Cost sharing, not fares
Keep what you would have spent alone
Each co-traveller pays only for the stretch they ride, priced from the NPA rate and the distance. Sankofa Carpool takes no commission and never intermediates the payment — you settle directly with the other party.
Verified people
You know who you are travelling with
Everyone is verified with a Ghana Card. Commuters add a driving licence, roadworthy and insurance, and their number plate is checked before they can offer a seat. Reliability is built from real completed trips, not self-reported stars.
Safety
Someone can watch your trip
Share a live link with whoever you want following along. Your trusted contact is reached by the SOS button alone — never automatically, so an alert from Sankofa Carpool always means something.
Mobility Hub
Useful before anyone matches
Pump prices by station, insurers, spare-parts dealers, mechanics and EV charge points. Useful on day one, in a town where nobody else has joined yet.
Car Spend
Know what the commute actually costs you
Fuel, maintenance, parking, tolls and trotro fares in one place, with your subscription and what sharing gave back worked out for you. Month by month, or a whole year with a report you can export.
Employers, schools and neighbourhoods
Ride with people you already have something in common with
Social pools let neighbours and colleagues share rides among themselves. An organisation can put its people on one account, see its own usage and CO₂ by branch and department, run a vehicle fleet, and — if it wants — keep its members matching only with each other.
Students and Founding Members
Priced for where you actually are
Verify with your university and the student price applies. And the first 500 people to get Sankofa Carpool moving become Founding Members: half off for as long as you keep it, 4 free rides a week, and the Founder badge.
Routes people are using
How busy each route is today. A quiet one still works — it just needs someone to go first.
